I am dedicating this page to my father, John Daniel. My dad will turn 87 in December and has had a strong love and affection for horses all of his life. He still helps out around our farm by feeding the horses and keeping an eye on things if both Jerry and I are gone...quite a feat because he has macular degeneration and his vision is very limited. He loves doing it and it gives him something to do that he is still comfortable doing!! He hasn't a clue as to how much he helps us out!!! He still wants to ride and we try to take him out at least once a year. His riding partner Holly (pictured below) crossed the Rainbow Bridge on October 24, 2006. She was 28 1/2 years old. I attribute my love for horses to him and am striving to be as active as he is when I am his age.

OREGON CHANCE (CHANCE)
Born the Spring of 1991 - Died December 4, 2007
BLM # 91910650
Coyote Lake HMA
Oregon
UPDATE:
OREGON CHANCE HAS CROSSED THE RAINBOW BRIDGE.
We had to have Chance put down on December 4, 2007 because of a twisted intestine. He would have been 17 in the coming spring. Chance was by far the best horse that I personally have ever owned. Jerry and I are both very sad...we lost a very special friend and one that will never totally be replaced.
GOOD-BYE OUR BELOVED FRIEND....UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN.

Why did we name this horse Oregon Chance? Well, because he was our first adopted mustang, because he was the "OLD" stud in the group...when we called out his number everyone around us went "Ohhhhh...they taking the OLD Stud" - he was 5! Guess we did take a bit of a chance, but it was the best decision we could have made. We love the Big Guy!! Let me qualify big...he's only 15 hands, but he's got tree trunk legs and big feet and probably weighs 1200 lbs on a good day. He's our Steady Eddy!
